Hawai'i Bicycling League E-Bikes Series

  1. E-Bike Basics

At Wakeful State, we believe in the power of storytelling to inform, engage, and inspire action. We’re incredibly grateful to the Hawai'i Bicycling League (HBL) and the Hawai'i Department of Transportation for entrusting us to create this essential E-Bike Safety & Education Series—a project designed to empower both riders and drivers with knowledge that makes Honolulu’s streets safer for everyone.

E-bikes are transforming the ways people move through cities, offering a sustainable and accessible alternative to traditional transportation. However, with this rapid growth comes the need for clear guidance on safety, regulations, and responsible riding. This five-part series distills key information into engaging, easy-to-understand videos that help new and seasoned e-bike riders to navigate the roads with confidence.

What This Series Covers:
🚲
E-Bike Basics – Getting to know your e-bike
🛒 Buying Your First E-Bike – What to consider before making a purchase
🚴 Where Can I Ride My E-Bike? – Navigating bike lanes, multi-use paths, and street laws
🔋 Battery Safety – Charging best practices and fire prevention
🚦 Tips for First-Time Riders – Mastering balance, braking, and situational awareness
🚗 The 3-Foot Passing Rule – How drivers and cyclists can coexist safely on the road

By working with HBL and Hawai'i Department of Transportation, we hope to elevate awareness and education, ensuring that riders feel prepared and drivers are more mindful of sharing the road. Mahalo to our partners for their commitment to building a safer, more bike-friendly future in Hawai'i.
