Crash - DNLR Detection Dog
Hawai'i Island Humane Society x Department of Land and Natural Resources
Meet Crash — Hawai’i’s newest conservation hero! Wakeful State had so much fun creating a special pet profile video for the Hawai’i Island Humane Society’s annual Tropical Paws fundraiser, featuring Crash, a once-stray pup from Big Island turned professional invasive predator detection dog. Crash now works with the Snail Extinction Prevention Program at the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), helping to protect Hawai’i’s endangered native snails on Oahu. Trained by Rogue Detection Teams, Crash detects invasive predators like rosy wolf snails and chameleons, which is vital in preserving our island’s unique ecosystem.
Crash’s journey is a beautiful example of how community, compassion, and innovation can come together to make a real impact. Watch his full story and join us in celebrating the incredible work of Rogue Detection Teams, DLNR and the Hawai’i Island Humane Society!
